As a California Equine Photographer I BELIEVE CAPTURING IMAGES IS A FORM OF STORY TELLING.

HERE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE STORIES of horses and the people that love them.

Santa Ynez Horse and Rider Session

Lauren, Trouble and Mulehide – Santa Ynez Horse and Rider Session

This Santa Ynez Horse and Rider Session was an absolute dream with pretty ponies and golden light. Lauren is a style, fitness and food blogger plus one heck of a dog mom living in the stunning Santa Ynez Valley.  She maintains a booming blog and its corresponding social media channels while also working a full time job. She finds time to ride her smoky buckskin gelding Mulehide with her husband Austin. Austin and Lauren have been married for a few years now and Lauren was not a “crazy horse girl” growing up. She is a self-proclaimed “city girl” that married a hunky cowboy (understandable) and now fully embraces that way of life. While they were dating, Austin and Lauren spent countless hours at the barn riding together.

Lauren fell in love with Mulehide and credits him with teaching her how to ride. I love following along with Lauren’s Instagram stories to see what she’s up to with her Blue Heeler dog Bull. Usually, it’s visits to the ranch to see Mulehide and a bay mare Trouble. Sometimes they just visit, sometimes they ride, sometimes the watch Austin and her brother-in-law rope together. Trouble technically belongs to Lauren’s brother-in-law Kelsey, but being the good girl that she is, Trouble will let anyone love on her so she’s definitely a family favorite in addition to being one heck of a competitive rope horse.

I ventured to Santa Ynez one perfect and warm sunny day for a little photo session with Lauren and her furry crew. Before we began we grabbed a few shots of the whole family which includes two darling and precocious twins, Brand and Landry. Two horses, two babies, a dog and six adults – challenge accepted! I love how the family portion as well as the Horse and Rider session turned out and I still love following along with “Style Me Lauren” and her crew. I’m hoping someday her style points might teach me how to dress myself, but I think I might be her “Everest”!

I make frequent trips to the Santa Ynez Valley. Please contact me here to book your session!
