As a California Equine Photographer I BELIEVE CAPTURING IMAGES IS A FORM OF STORY TELLING.

HERE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE STORIES of horses and the people that love them.

San Miguel Western Fashion Collaboration Photoshoot

San Miguel Western Fashion Photoshoot- produced by Thrifty Turquoise

This San Miguel Western Fashion Collaboration Photoshoot was truly a labor of love. If you follow me on social media you know that I shoot a fair amount of western fashion bloggers and influencers in addition to horses. These gals are so fun to hang out with and are pretty much teaching me how to dress myself due to 12 years of Catholic School. What can I say, I grew up wearing uniforms and dress code so if it’s not plaid or khaki I have a hard time coordinating an outfit.

I’ve been working with Karina from the Thrifty Turquoise since early last year and we love to bounce ideas off each other all the time. From shoot ideas to marketing ideas, we chat about it all! So I wasn’t surprised when she told me she had an idea that was big. Karina single-handedly organized over 15 western makers and small business brands for everything from jewelry to boots, shirts, dresses, belts, bottoms, you name it. On top of that she organized a model search and ended up with 4 other amazing western fashion influencers in addition to herself. I was lucky enough to come along for the ride as the photographer.

We decided on Mission San Miguel for our location with about a month to coordinate and plan. The Mission is a favorite location of ours and mine in particular since I was married there in 2013. It was a gorgeous day, even if it was a little warm at 102 degrees. The girls were nothing but professional and dealt with the heat and outfit changes like seasoned pro’s. We got through over 17 full outfits including accessories in under two hours. The content created that day will be used by each of the models and all the brands involved in the shoot as well as myself. Check below from some of my favorite outfits and shot from the day!
