As a California Equine Photographer I BELIEVE CAPTURING IMAGES IS A FORM OF STORY TELLING.

HERE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE STORIES of horses and the people that love them.

San Luis Obispo Horse and Rider Session

Jessica and Rudy

This San Luis Obispo Horse and Rider Session features Jessica and Rudy. Jessica and Rudy are a barrel racing duo training at Central Coast Boarding and Training.

I love a glossy chestnut coat so I was very excited to meet Rudy in person. I was thrilled when I got there and Jessica asked if her weenie puppy Laney could get in on the action. Needless to say, her boyfriend Jake was invited to pose too! Of course, the whole gang is welcome!

Rudy was so well behaved and definitely liked all the attention he was getting. Laney even gave her horse-brother a few smooches on the nose As a result, this melted all our hearts instantly!

We made it a family affair and had Jake’s sister Shelby assist with the shoot. She was a trooper. Shelby bathed Rudy and was my “ears up assistant”. Plus, if I do not credit Shelby in this blog post she will probably never help me again (half kidding).

We ventured all around the facility and went up the hill at the base of one of the Seven Sisters for some open field shots. Laney had to be carried because it’s pretty easy to lose a weenie puppy in tall grass!

It was a beautiful evening and even as that iconic coastal fog started to drift in, we got some wonderful shots of Jessica and her boy Rudy… and of course a few with Jake. For the record, Jake might win the Boyfriend of the Year.

It was only after our shoot together did I realize exactly how BADA** Jessica and Rudy are on a barrel pattern. I love following my clients on social media to stay in touch and see which photos they choose to post.

So I’ve had a blast getting to know this pair even more after their shoot and watching all the barrel racing video’s Jessica posts on her feed. I’m actually fairly certain Rudy has an invisible jet pack – he is so dang fast!
