As a California Equine Photographer I BELIEVE CAPTURING IMAGES IS A FORM OF STORY TELLING.

HERE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE STORIES of horses and the people that love them.

San Luis Obispo Equine Session at Amanda Garcia Equestrian

San Luis Obispo Equine Session at Amanda Garcia Equestrian || Meghan and Tolosa

San Luis Obispo Equine Sessions at Amanda Garcia Equestrian make my English horse girl roots very happy. The boots the breeches, all of it hark back to my younger days growing up in San Francisco. Meghan and I have opposite equine journey’s as I started English and went western during college while Meghan went the other way Meghan grew up a Western rider but she was quickly draw to the English world filled with boots, breeches and big beautiful bay’s.

Actually, she’s not particular about color but does currently own two gorgeous dappled bay mares. For our Horse and Rider session together we first met at her house to grab a few black background portraits of her young mare Piper, her older ranch horse gelding and his special donkey friend Duncan. As expected, Duncan the donkey had a lot to say and clearly wanted to be the star of the show. From there we went to AG Equestrian in San Luis Obispo to meet her Irish Sport Horse mare Tolosa. We photographed Tolosa in the barn aisle for her black background portraits and around the beautiful facilities at AG Equestrian for her Horse and Rider portrait session. Meghan competes with Tolosa in jumper classes and the pair get along so well! You can occasionally catch them competing at the Paso Robles Horse Park.

Meghan is also “Mom” to three adorable and precocious boys but still makes sure to get her saddle time in. Her boys will even help her from time to time with stall cleaning or video her riding so she can check her progress. When she’s not in the saddle, at the barn or with her family, she’s working as a vet technician at the prestigious Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center in Los Olivos, Ca. Meghan has begun starting her young mare Piper herself and is thrilled with her progress so far. “She is like riding on a cloud and I can’t wait to start riding her more.” Piper is a Zangersheide and was bred by AliBoo Farms in Illinois. Get ready to see this pair in the hunter jumper rings soon! For now, enjoy a few images from our session together!
