As a California Equine Photographer I BELIEVE CAPTURING IMAGES IS A FORM OF STORY TELLING.

HERE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE STORIES of horses and the people that love them.

Paso Robles Ranch Engagement Session

Paso Robles Ranch Engagement Session || Jen and Brett

This Paso Robles Ranch Engagement session with Jen and Brett was one for the books! Part of what I love so much about the wonderful Central Coast community is the tight-knit agriculture industry that resides here. From the wine industry to the cattle and equine industries, there’s something for everyone here. I met Jen and Brett through friends during the local branding season a few short years ago. Amidst cowboys roping and Rocky Mountain Oysters in their natural state, Jen and I got to talking in between her running out into the pen to help vaccinate and me clicking away with my camera.

I later went on to shoot Jen and her mare Josephine in 2017 out on the ranch where they live. Josephine still ranks as one of the snuggliest horses I’ve ever photographed. She just loves her person Jen and the feeling is mutual. Plus, they were a very well-dressed pair with all the South Western flair goodness! I’m always so touched and grateful when I get the opportunity to work with clients more than once. So of course I was honored when Jen asked if I could shoot their engagement photos.

In true cowgirl fashion, we decided to book their engagement session after a branding one Sunday afternoon. The cows were all done being worked thanks to a handy crew and Jen and Brett ran to the house to get cleaned up and changed. We drove around picking out spots as we went and warming up in the car in between shots as an early spring wind storm decided to grace us with its presence. Here’s where I side bar and generally tell clients that if it becomes super windy during your session not to worry. Beyonce pays good money for wind machines and we get it for free! Embrace the wind we did and I love how Jen and Brett’s images turned out! I can’t wait for their wedding at a family ranch in San Ardo, Ca in the Fall!
