As a California Equine Photographer I BELIEVE CAPTURING IMAGES IS A FORM OF STORY TELLING.

HERE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE STORIES of horses and the people that love them.

Paso Robles Horse and Rider Session

A Paso Robles Horse and Rider Session with Jen and Josephine

A Paso Robles Horse and Rider session for the books with Jen and her sweet mare Josephine! I met Jen through friends during the local branding circuit a few years ago. I often get to tag along with my husband during branding season to help give shots to the calves and to take pictures of a lifestyle that is often forgotten but certainly not gone. This is one of my husband’s favorite times of the year because ranch work can be pretty isolated and branding season requires a lot of help to get the job done well so you end up seeing all your friends in the branding pen during this time of year!

We met Jen through her boyfriend Brett as she was also brought along to help during branding season. Jen is one of the warmest and most fun humans you will ever meet. Her mare Josephine is one of the sweetest and snuggliest horse’s I’ve had the pleasure of being around.  Josephine rivals my own horse on the snuggle game. So it makes total sense that these two lovely creatures found each other. This sweet little pair often helps Jen’s fiance Brett work on the ranch and trust me when I say they look awfully cute while doing it. Josephine used to be Brett’s ranch mount at one point but I think it’s safe to say that she is officially in Jen’s string now.

For our shoot together, Jen wore her favorite jewelry piece which is an authentic vintage squash blossom necklace that her (AMAZING) fiance snagged for her as a surprise. Boyfriend of the Year points right there. Since Jen is the most adorable human ever she brought along her signature style with a few southwestern touches to complete the look of our session. Here are a few shots from my awesome session with Jen and her Quarter Horse mare Josephine on the ranch they live on in Paso Robles, Ca.
