California Horse Photography Shoot

at Wheeler Performance Horses |Hollister, Ca.

For this California Horse Photography Shoot, I ventured back to one of my favorite barns. Wheeler Performance Horses is located in Hollister, Ca and is run by Jenn and Justin Wheeler. Obviously, Jenn and Justin are a fantastic husband and wife duo. Since I’ve been coming to this barn for a few years now, I enjoy every trip. Luckily, they are located close to my parents so I can see my family and work at the same time.

Since Jenn and Justin are such fun and kind people, they attract that type of client to their barn. Naturally, all the riders, owners and horses are so wonderful. Therefore this California Horse Photography shoot was super fun. Furthermore, Wheeler Performance Horses and their riders compete heavily on the AQHA circuit.

Subsequently, they like to run ads in all the major publications to advertise themselves and the horse they will be competing on for the year. Which is super fun for me to see my photos be turned into ads and then in print!

Since we do so many over a weekend, we end up doing a lot of black background portraits so we can get everyone done. However, this year Jenn had a special horse and rider combo that we did a sunrise Horse and Rider session for. This is my favorite style of California Horse Photography! Golden light, a beautiful horse and a lovely lady. Naturally, this horse was special because he is one that Wheeler Performance Horses has raised. Of course, he is STUNNING.

Hopefully, all the horse and rider combos at Wheeler Performance Horses do well this year! Especially since its so fun for me to see them at the beginning of the year and where they end up towards the end.
