Commercial Photo Shoot
Even though it was 105 degrees for this Buck Wild Rags Shoot, I still found this commercial photo shoot a blast! Sharon from Buck Wild Rags wanted a shoot that demonstrated her wild rags are multi-seasonal. While most people tend to wear wild rags in the winter, lighter materials and prints prove otherwise. Secondly, we wanted to prove that someone that never modeled before could rock a photo shoot with the right direction.
Naturally, Sharon chose some of her boldest prints. Next, we sourced Paisley as our model. Since Paisley is a talented young cowgirl, she embodies that lifestyle of someone that wears a wild rag. Lastly, we chose our location. Due to our theme being summer oriented, we went to a tall corn field off the side of the road. Therefore, demonstrating that even roadsides can be picturesque.
When I’m directing a client or a model, I try and give specific instructions. However, I leave room for interpretation. I feel like allowing people to move as they would naturally, is what shows their personality and beauty. Therefore I don’t instruct “down to the fingertips”. Otherwise, I fear everyone would end up with the same set of poses. Since I want people to feel special, unique and valued, I try to give people posing directions based off who they are as a person. Overall, I give direction in terms of “acting” out a phrase or emotion. Since everyone’s interpretation is different, the results will always have variation.
Obviously, Paisley nailed this shoot. Especially since it was over 105 degrees and we had several looks and wild rags to photograph. Naturally I was thrilled with the outcome of this Buck Wild Rags Shoot. Clearly I enjoy commercial photo shoots since I love helping a brand tell their story through lifestyle photography.
