with Callie, Rufus, Caddy and Gidget
I was so excited that this Bakersfield Equine Photography Session happened on a warm sunny evening. If you know Bakersfield or the Central Valley of California at all, you know it gets pretty hot in the summer. Luckily, we did Callie’s equine photography session right at the tail end of spring. Obviously, we narrowly avoided the Summer heat! Needless to say, it was magic.
Undoubtedly, Callie is a hit in the AQHA events. First and foremost, she has an awesome “horse show mom” who is such a fun lady. Naturally, I’m so glad she was present for our session. Secondly, she has an awesome trainer in Chris Slauson. Along with her string of lovely horses, she’s ready to kick butt in the show pen.
Callie currently shows her two geldings, Rufus and Caddy. However, after talking to her I learned she is a “mare person”. Obviously, we connected since I’m a fellow “mare person”. Naturally, her mare Gidget had her own time during the photo session. Needless to say, those images were pretty special to take.
Obviously the two geldings were total rock stars, but there is just something about the love of a good mare. Especially one as special as Gidget. Currently, Gidget enjoys her retirement from the show pen but still gets to have fun with Callie on a regular basis at home.
Look for Callie, Rufus and Caddy in upcoming shows. Due to the awesome team behind her and Callie’s hard work and practice, I know she’ll go far. It’s so fun meeting a new crew of horse people and I loved meeting the whole team behind Callie and her ponies.
